Karl Bateson

Karl moved into Morecambe Foyer in November 2007 due to a relationship breakdown with his mum that resulted in Karl sofa surfing with friends.  Karl started the 12 week Princes Trust programme in January 2008, engaging in practical community initiatives, and completed the course in April 2008 by delivering a speech to over 100 people about his experiences and personal development throughout the course.  With the excellent references received from the programme’s coordinators, Karl was able to secure full-time employment with a local restaurant.

When Karl suffered a major set back due to financial difficulties and leaving his job for personal reasons, Support Plans were put in place to help him.  Since January 2009, Karl has engaged in full-time voluntary work at a local healthy eating cafe, has repayment plans in place and has cleared all his debts.

Karl is very happy at the moment and has established an excellent relationship with his family.  Karl's goal is to become a fire fighter and is currently exploring volunteer opportunities with Lancashire Fire Rescue Service.
