I moved into Braintree Foyer in July 2007 due to problems with my Dad. I had only just turned 16, so I found it quite hard at first because I was inexperienced at living independently. During my time here, I have learned many valuable lessons and have met many great people in the process.

When I first moved in, I didn't care or think about the consequences of my actions and often got into trouble. I was disrespectful, unruly and immature and now I know why I had problems with my parents. Unfortunately, because of my bad behaviour and constant complaints, I received a written warning and was told that if I didn't buck up my ideas, I would not be allowed to stay at the foyer.

This was a turning point for me. After I realised what I was risking, I changed for the better. I started college in November and had a part time job helping out a friend. I started doing my L.P.A. and ‘Passport to Independence' and I started showing respect to other residents and staff.

Since I have lived at the foyer, I have become a mature young adult, I have learned how to live independently and manage my own life. I am still going to college and have almost completed my L.P.A and my ‘Passport to Independence', so provided that I stick to the rules and don't misbehave, I should be getting my own flat, which I am really looking forward to.
