Daniel Sawyer

Daniel Sawyer moved into Morecambe Foyer in December 2008.  His main reason for applying to the Foyer was to learn how to look after himself and be nearer to college. Daniel suffers from Aspergers Syndrome.

He had some difficulties at the beginning of his tenancy, but has accepted the help offered to him and learnt from his mistakes. He is also managing his finances well.

Daniel has striven to participate in all programmes and events, attended all residents meetings, flat meetings and the awareness and debate nights.

Daniel is an independent young man who has ambitions for a career in catering.  He made a great impact recently at the Venture Trust Residential Programme, where the course organizer said that he was a true star of the programme, the best applicant they had had in ages and a great representative of Salvation Army Housing Association.

Since coming to the Foyer, Daniel has become a stronger person and is well on his way to gaining his Passport to Independence.

Daniel is starting a volunteering role at the Food for Thought Café, a local community initiative project. He has also been offered independent accommodation with the Local Authority and is hoping to move in by 5 November 2009.
