Move-on support
Resident can stay with us for up to 2 years. From day one at Morecambe Foyer we work closely with all our residents to ensure that they are preparing and working towards achieving total independence and ultimately settled accommodation. We maintain strong links with our local housing providers, which help us to support our residents move-on into quality long-term accommodation, once they have acquired the necessary independent living skills. We hope to achieve this by working closely with a variety of housing providers, such as:
- Local authority
- Housing associations
- Private landlords
- Foyers countrywide
- Student accommodation
Once an application has been made, we apply for 2 references on behalf of the applicant. We then invite applicants to attend the scheme to get to know them better, discuss support needs and identify expectations to ensure that we are able to deliver a service that meets the needs of the individual.
All applicants are notified of the outcome of the meeting either in person, by letter or phone call. They are advised if they are placed onto our waiting list, or can be given a date for move-in.
What do our residents say - past & present....?
Don't take our word for it, here are some of our residents views, past and present.
Hi my name is Adam - known as Fenner. I left the Foyer about 2 years ago. During the two years I lived at the Foyer I had lots of ups and downs, and didn't always listen to the staff. I now have a job, my own place and a wonderful girlfriend Sam and I am about to become a Daddy. I now realise what the Foyer is about and appreciate the support that was given

I am now working at Edmondson's as a porter delivering furniture and drinking coffee. I lived at the Foyer for 7-8 months. The staff are helpful and funny. The Foyer helped me to get a job and helped me get a good trade. I still keep in contact with a lot of the residents & staff.

The Foyer is the right place to be in life if whether you are down on your luck or you've messed up and need a second chance. It was both of them for me. I moved in about a month ago now. I am on a course re-doing my English and Maths. I'm also on an IT course with an aim to going into Business Administration. So it's not all that bad.
