Hazelwood Court is a Sheltered Housing complex situated in Heybridge near Maldon, Essex. It is close to the park, shops, churches and local amenities.
The Scheme Manager lives on site and is there to promote independent living with support from other agencies when residents require it.
Accommodation
The scheme consists of 19 flats and bungalows. There are 5 ground floor with 5 first floor flats and 9 bungalows. Each flat has its own front door leading onto the complex.
There are pleasant and well stocked gardens around the scheme which are tended to by our residents or by the contracted gardeners.
Each property has its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. There is either a shower or bath in each property. All have central heating and a pull cord lifeline system.
There is adequate car parking space around the scheme.
Community Hall
This comprises of a residents’ lounge, kitchenette, laundry/hairdressing salon, personal hygiene facilities and a Scheme Managers Office.
The residents use the Community Hall for social interaction. We have a wide range of activities and entertainment to suit everyone who wishes to participate and are always open to new ideas.
We have coffee mornings, fish and chip lunches, BBQ’s, video shows and various musical events. Residents can put their own ideas and suggestions forward at our regular tenant meetings or directly to the Scheme Manager. The Community Hall can be hired by the residents for their own private parties or functions.
Social Community Activities
At Hazelwood Court there are many opportunities to mix and make friends.
Regular social events are held at the Plantation Hall nearby. Some of the residents play Golf and Bridge and others like to go to their Keep Fit Class every week. We have regular outings during the year where some of the residents’ families and friends join us.
Services
The local bus service passes close to the Scheme in Oak Road and many of the residents use the Community Transport bus which is operated by Viking Transport through Essex County Council. We also use the Viking Community bus for our outings at the Scheme.
Support
The Scheme is supported by the resident Scheme Manager who works 27 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At other times cover is provided by Invicta Telecare who offer cover 24/7, 365 days a year.
SAHA’s Customer Services deal with all repair requests, plus any enquires residents may have. The Housing Officer visits regularly and personal visits can be arranged.
