Partnership Working

The Salvation Army
SAHA has enjoyed a long association with The Salvation Army. Since 1976, SAHA has redeveloped many of The Salvation Army's residential centres to provide well-appointed single rooms with good communal facilities, andintensive management support provided by The Salvation Army. There are over 40 residential centres spread across the country. The latest new developments are Riverside House in Docklands, Hopetown in Whitechapel and Cambria House in Camden.

Crime Reduction Initiative
The Crime Reduction Initiative has worked in partnership with SAHA since 2001and provides a scheme for people recovering from drug and alcohol dependency in the south of England.

Watford New Hope Trust
SAHA was first involved with Watford New Hope Trust in the late 1980s, when outreach work amongst the homeless community in Watford began. Since then, a residential centre for men and women has been established, together with move-on accommodation.

Richmond Fellowship
SAHA has schemes for people with enduring mental health difficulties in Lytham St Anne's and Stoke on Trent. The Richmond Fellowship has worked with SAHA since 2000.

Partnership Success Stories
The redevelopment of Riverside House in Docklands demonstrates the close working relationship between SAHA and The Salvation Army. The original building had been used as a Salvation Army hostel since 1928, but was increasingly not fit for purpose.

The scheme was completed in November 2005 at a construction cost of £5.2million. The total scheme cost, including fees and fit-out, etc was £6.1million.

Riverside House is divided into 8 clusters of 5 en-suite bedrooms with each cluster having a small kitchen and dining area. A project workers office adjoins each cluster and there are various administration and training rooms throughout the building.

The top floor of Riverside House has recently been redesignated as a Detox unit for Bangladeshi men, and is run in conjunction with the neighbouring Greig House – an existing drug rehabilitation facility managed by The Salvation Army.

SAHA was delighted to welcome Princess Anne to perform the official opening on 1 February 2007

New Partnership Opportunities
SAHA is seeking to identify still closer with The Salvation Army in the coming years and to pursue further development and partnership opportunities with them.
